The Decision of Press Council of Kosovo regarding the appeal of Nezir Sinanit, U.D. Menager of Communication in KEK, against the newspaper “Infopress”
8 March 2008The Press Council of Kosovo in Prishtina, after reviewing the appeal of KEK, filed against the newspaper “Infopress” for the article: “The Officials of KEK hire their own relatives” published in 16 January 2008, in the session held on 28.02.08, took this:

R E A S O N I N G
KEK has filed an appeal against the newspaper “Infopress” regarding the article published on 16 January 2008: “The Officials of KEK hire their own relatives” by objecting the accuracy of this information.
To shed light to this issue, the newspaper “Infopress” fulfills its obligation as foreseen by Chapter IV of the Press Code in Kosovo, by enabling the appellant to publish in this newspaper his response in the information dated 16 January 2008. This means that some of the main contesting issues have been clarified in the article of January 16 2008, by completing the facts and the data from the accuracy and comprehensive viewpoint. In this way, we consider that the information was enriched by another dimension.
According to the principle of hearing also the other party, the person in question is enabled to provide an explanation for what was published, so the reader will form the proper impression of what is going on, so one of the main obligations of publisher is fulfilled.
The newspaper has published the answer of the appellant whereby the explanations were given in main points.
Therefore, the Press Council of Kosovo considers that there is no violation of the Code of Press Council of Kosovo, so the appeal is refused.
Legal Remedy:
The appellant does not have the right to file an appeal against this decision.
