The Decision of the Press Council of Kosovo regarding the appeal of Naser Osmanit, the deputy minister of Ministry of Trade and Industry, filed against the newspaper “Koha ditore”.
8 March 2008The Press Council of Kosovo in Prishtina, after reviewing the appeal of Naser Osmani, the deputy Minister of MIT, dated 19.02.08, filed against the newspaper “Koha Ditore” regarding the article published in this newspaper on 15.02.08 under the title: “The Deputy Minister Osmani threatens the physical liquidation the official of AKR”, in its session held on 28.02.2008, took this:

Reviewing the appeal of Mr. Naser Osmani, filed against the newspaper “Koha Ditore” regarding the published information under the title “The Deputy Minister Ormani threatens to physically liquidate the official of AKR” dated 15.02.2008. The Press Council of Kosovo found that the newspaper has referred at least to three sources which were present in the critical moment, which do not deny the litigation alleged by the article or do not want to refer to that event.
The journalist asked Mr. Osmani to give a statement regarding the event, but he did not want to answer to the concrete question; therefore, he exhausted his right to respond saying that the subject the journalist was interested for was “idiotic, of very low level and unprofessional”.
The Board of PCK reviewed the text of the eventual written reaction of Mr.Osmani sent to newspaper “Koha Ditore” which the newspaper did not publish, since it did not give any explanation for the concrete subject, but had only generalized accusation against the journalist and this is the reason the appeal is refused for.
Legal Remedy:
The appellant does not have the right to file an appeal against this decision.
