The adjudication of the Press Council of Kosovo on the appeal of Bejtullah Hasani, an employee in the socially own Dwelling Company, filed against the newspaper “Infopress”.
3 June 2008The Press Council of Kosovo, in Prishtina, in its session held on 28 of May 2008, after reviewing the appeal of Bejtullah Hasani, an employee on the socially owned Dwelling Company in Prishtina, filed against the newspaper “Infopress”, referring to the article “He makes favor to his wife” published on April 22, 2008, took this:

Bejtullah Hasani, an employee of the socially owned dwelling company, filed an appeal against the newspaper “Infopress” referring to the article “He makes favors to his wife” published on April 22, 2008, appealing that the above mentioned article negatively presented the context when the newspaper treated him as being guilty for the “misuses” in this company.
The PCK is of the opinion that the afore-mentioned article, mainly relies on one report of the Prosecutor of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, Afrim Shefkiu, who treats the director of this company, Bashkim Beqaj, as guilty for the misuse, more precisely of doing favors to his wife by enabling her and his friend to hire the facilities of the company with lowest rent price and that in this action the appellant was involved as a member of the commission.
According to a representative of the “Infopress” the report of the Special Prosecutor’s Office has not been published but the newspaper managed to get it unofficially. PCK considers that “Inforpress” should have requested the opinion of the other involved party in order to publish it.
Since the complaint does not deny that the afore-mentioned facility is rented at a lower price to the wife and the friend but with the justification money spent for refurbishment is taken into account it can be said that only the court should give the last word.
