Complaint not upheld
Auditor General of Kosovo in Pristina, has filed a complaint the Press Council of Kosovo, on May 17, 2010 against the newspaper "Lajm", claiming that the newspaper has published a draft audit report on Ministry of Health for 2009 annual financial statements.
According to the complainant's allegations, the newspaper was aware that the audit report is a draft and therefore could not be on the interest of the public. The publication of this draft report, according to the complainant has the purpose of spreading rumors.
PCK deciding on this appeal, found that the article published in the newspaper "Lajm" with the headline: "Travel without cover”, for which the complaint was made, found that it contains no violation of the rules of the Code of the print media of Kosovo, this as a fact since the newspaper "Lajm" has reported any untrue by writing the draft report of the Auditor General of Kosovo, that couple of times (many times) mentioned in the article that it refers to a draft report.
Also the newspaper in due time has published the complainant's reaction to what has respected the principle of the right to respond, provided by the Code of Ethics of the print media in Kosovo.
PCK requires that the newspaper "Lajm" to publish final audit report for the Ministry of Health of Kosovo, when it becomes available, to the benefit of full information to the public.
PCK verifying the actual situation, decided for the decision stated in the sub-title (dispozitive).
